Skeleton Key takes a one-night stand approach to service, and we realize sometimes we're gonna get booty calls.

Let me explain.

There's a lot of competition in the IT business. The business model of choice frequently requires you, as the customer, to wed yourself to one IT provider. They'll take you out for lunch and maybe let you try out their services for an afternoon but once you sign that contract, they're your "partner." They are in your bed, in your server, in your data. Their passwords give them the master keys to your castle.

The more scrupulous IT providers will share their passwords with you. Yeah, you read that right: the "good guys" will let you have a master key to your own house. Sounds crazy, yes?

Unfortunately, and all too often, we see an even more iniquitous approach. These IT "partners" will hold you, your business and your data hostage with passwords that only they have access to. They'll implement new solutions without explaining them. They'll leave you feeling like it's all just too complicated for a non-technical person to understand. You'll hear the contempt in their voice when they're forced to answer your simple questions.

OK. I'm getting worked up, I've got to take a moment and settle down. That mishandling of trust just really burns me up.

Here at SK we call this "strategy" embedding, i.e. any IT provider that behaves that way is leveraging their knowledge of your systems as a strategic advantage to keep you dependent on their services.

Our one-night stand policy means we're happy to show you the best IT service in town with no strings attached. We DON'T ask for a long-term commitment, unless YOU request it. And when you DO decide to take the plunge (and stop depending on booty calls for your critical systems and information) we'll NEVER withhold the keys to your castle. It's yours after all, and we'll treat you (and it) with the respect it deserves.

We'll earn your trust time and time again if that's what it takes. We'll do this by documenting aggressively and insisting that we share this documentation with you. SK will never leave you wondering what we've just done or how we've done it.

  3. If you choose, we'll schedule a technical meeting to look more specifically at the technical issues you're facing.
  4. If you decide to work with us, we'll lay out a service agreement that allows you to use our resources once, or repeatedly, and without any more commitment than you want.
